ATTRACTIONS IN THE AREA

CULTURE

During longer stays at Manowce or when the weather does not allow for sunbathing, some guests look for cultural attractions. In July and August, a lot is happening in Szczecin, despite some venues also having a holiday break. To check what’s going on in Szczecin’s cultural scene, visitors can use ticket-selling services such as Bilety24 or eBilet. However, it is best to check the repertoire on the websites of theatres or cinemas.

THEATRE

For those who love theatre, Szczecin has two great venues:

Teatr Polski. Many famous Polish actors have performed at the Polish Theatre, including Andrzej Kopiczyński, Krzysztof Chamiec, Ryszard Pietruski, and Edward Żentara. The Polish Theatre has five stages, including the Shakespeare Stage, which refers to the London’s Globe Theatre of Shakespeare.

Teatr Współczesny. For many years, the artistic director of this theatre was Maciej Englert. Many renowned Polish actors and actresses have performed here, including Danuta Stenka, Maria Seweryn, Katarzyna Bujakiewicz, and Krzysztof Czeczot.

EXHIBITIONS

It is worth checking what is currently on display at places such as Trafostacja Sztuki, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Lentz Villa, or the Pomeranian Library.

MUSEUMS

While sightseeing in Szczecin, as described above, visitors can also visit a museum. Szczecin has several of them, but we particularly recommend those dedicated to maritime and technical history.

The National Museum in Szczecin has several branches, with the main one housed in a majestic building on Wały Chrobrego. It contains, among other things, collections of historical art related to Pomerania. It is also worth visiting the Dialogue Centre Przełomy, located in an underground building next to the Philharmonic. This modern museum presents key turning points in the history of Western Pomerania in an innovative way.

The Maritime Museum, known as the Maritime Science Centre, is one of Szczecin’s attractions included in our suggested city sightseeing routes.

The Museum of Technology and Transport houses an extraordinary collection of cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles manufactured in Szczecin since 1858, as well as vehicles produced elsewhere in Poland from the early days of Polish motorization.
